Automating content creation: a real-world use case

A tech company approached Automations Lab with a challenge: they needed to produce high-quality blog posts and social media content at scale and consistently but found themselves bogged down by the process. Writing just one blog post took hours—between research, drafting, editing, and formatting—and they needed to publish multiple articles a month. On top of that, repurposing content for social media added even more workload to their already stretched team.
The result? Either they spent excessive time on content creation or their blog remained inactive for weeks at a time. They needed a way to create more content without burning resources or compromising quality.
Understanding the Challenge
We started by mapping out their content workflow. What we found was a familiar struggle:
Writers spent too much time structuring and drafting articles.
There was no central repository for content ideas, drafts, and approvals.
Social media content was an afterthought, leading to inconsistent posting.
Publishing was still a manual process, requiring someone to format, upload, and schedule every post.
It was clear that automation could significantly reduce the time spent on repetitive tasks while keeping content quality high.
Our Solution: AI-Powered Content Automation
Working closely with the team, we built a system that streamlined their entire content creation and publishing process.
Here’s what it included:
Content Generation with ChatGPT
Instead of starting from scratch each time, we helped them develop fine-tuned ChatGPT prompts to generate first drafts based on their brand’s tone and writing style. This allowed them to maintain a consistent voice across all content while significantly reducing writing time.
Airtable as a Content Database
We introduced Airtable as their centralized content hub. Blog topics, AI-generated drafts, images, and social media snippets were all stored in a structured database, making collaboration easy and eliminating version control issues.
Automated Editing & Formatting
With predefined formatting rules, AI-generated content was automatically structured into blog-ready drafts. The team could review and tweak as needed without starting from scratch.
Automated Publishing to Blogs & Social Media
Once content was finalized, automation workflows took over. Using Make.com, blog posts were automatically scheduled and published on their website. Social media versions of the posts were generated, optimized for each platform, and scheduled for distribution without manual intervention.
The Impact: High-Quality Content at Scale
The transformation was immediate:
Content output increased by 5x, with the team generating dozens of articles per month instead of just a handful.
Social media engagement improved, thanks to consistent posting without additional effort.
Significant cost savings, with content production running at less than 0.50€ per day—cheaper than a coffee a day, plus less than 1k€ spent for implementation.
Freed up internal resources, allowing the team to focus on strategy and innovation rather than getting stuck in the writing and publishing loop.
One team member summed it up best: “We used to spend hours writing a single post. Now, we can create an entire month’s worth of content in an afternoon.”
